One of the most exciting events associated with Hilton Head Island for the past 51 years has been the RBC Heritage PGA golf tournament. This event that takes place attracts people from all different age groups providing a week long of fun in the sun that won't be forgotten! In the spirit of reminiscing on some great heritage memories I decided to ask one of my best friends from college to reflect on his first Heritage experience!

When most people think of their favorite golf tournament in April, one word comes to mind: Masters. Those same people are the ones who have never visited Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, SC the very next weekend. Have you ever driven your boat to the Masters? No? Didn’t think so. It’s hard to beat the feeling…

Some of my fondest memories as a child and an adult are of fishing with my father and family. In the past I have included a fishing report from Captain Christaan Politzer. Here is a post he recently shared on Facebook:

"A shout out to all my charter captain friends. While I have many friends who are in all types of businesses that are really struggling right now, I am thinking about my buddies and comrades today that make their living on the water. It looks like the struggle will continue for all of us into the summer months. The timing of this could not have been worse for any of us, but especially for the charter industry here on Hilton Head. We all struggle to make it through the winter and spring/Easter essentially "digs us out of the hole" as my…

Low tide on Sea Pines Beach

We're pleased to report the real estate market on Hilton Head Island got off to a fabulous start the first week of January and the sales momentum continued right through to the first week of March. In February, almost a home a day was going under contract in Sea Pines. The mood of the market was upbeat and positive, and by all accounts, poised for another successful year. By early March, the coronavirus took hold of the country and the impact to our market was felt almost immediately. Since then, real estate transactions have been slow to form but they are occurring and across all price points. No doubt, we'll need to put an asterisk next to this years numbers.

Looking around the island, there was a 12.2 percent increase in the number of homes sold…

Travel and Leisure: Hilton Head Island falls at No. 1

When it comes to the best islands in the United States, readers gave the East Coast a near-clean sweep on this year’s list. Only one entry on this list isn’t located on the Atlantic seaboard, and that exception sits in a lake in the middle of the country. Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, Travel + Leisure asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value.

No. 1 Hilton Head Island continues to draw a faithful fanbase, thanks to its idyllic…

Driving while construction is happening on our roads can be challenging. Once these improvements are finished we will be able to return to normal on new and improved surfaces. There are numerous signs posted regarding the construction. My children had the best comment I have heard yet, Dad, if you know they are working on the roads just leave a little earlier.......Out of the mouths of babes!!! In the past few weeks I have seen a serious accident that required Greenwood Drive to be closed off and while I have no idea why the accident happened it was a reminder that we all need to remain patient while driving through this amazing resort community.( I hope and pray all of the people involved are safe and sound.) Please see below regarding the progress of…

Springtime is upon us in the Low Country bringing us warmer days, azalea bushes blooming, and the presence of Heritage plaid. This incredible climate boasts an average temperature of 70 degrees during the spring, making outdoor activities extremely popular! Such activities might consist of walks on the beach, 18 holes of golf, tennis, or my favorite…fishing! Springtime fishing is one of the most versatile fishing seasons the Low Country has to offer. The species targeted range from redfish, sea trout, sheepshead, black drum, weakfish, sea bass, flounder, cobia, kingfish, and Spanish mackerel.

Where is the best place to fish for these species?

It would be great if all these fish would just group up in one spot, but…

The New Spring Real Estate Market is Here. Are You Ready? | MyKCM

Which month do you think most people who are considering buying a home actually start their search? If you’re like most of us, you probably think the surge happens in the spring, likely in April. Not anymore. According to new research, January 2019 was only 1% behind February for the most monthly views per listing on realtor.com.

So, what does that mean? The busiest season in real estate has just begun.

The same research indicates,

“Historically, April launched the kickoff of the home shopping season as buyers would come out of their winter hibernation looking for their new home. However, the spring shopping season now starts in January for many of the nation's largest markets.”

With the reality of fewer homes on the market…

Many folks are aware of our Harbour Town golf links because of the wonderful PGA Tour's Heritage Golf tournament. Designed by one of the greatest golf architects of all time, Mr. Pete Dye. When I heard the news of Mr. Dye's passing while watching a PFA event of TV I could not help but ponder what a tremendous impact he had on Sea Pines Resort. His design of Harbour Town Golf Links has withstood the test of time. With golf balls that go further than ever, with equipment that pushes the limits of physics and with professional athletes who are on the tour being some of the strongest athletes in the world Harbour Town has stood firm as an amazing test for any golfer, professional and amateur alike. Pete Dye also designed Heron Point at the Plantation Golf…
