Sunny Nolde, Realtor/Broker

Nancy Cunningham - I was born on another barrier island...Absecon Island, NJ and grew up in Margate, a small town south of Atlantic City! As soon as I graduated from Centenary University, I headed for NYC, to live at the Barbizon Hotel for Women. I was hired for my "dream job" as a textile designer at the J.W. Valentine Company. Three years later I married and headed for another "dream job" as an art teacher and tour guide at The American School in Lugano, Switzerland. After returning to the US, we moved to Philadelphia where our three children were born. In route to Disney World in 1973, our tired 5 member family stopped for gas in Hardeeville, SC. After many hours on the road from St. David's , PA, the station attendant in Hardeeville, suggested we spend the night at The Inn on Hilton Head Island, a place I had never heard of. The Hilton Head Inn was beautiful, as was Sea Pines Plantation. After Disney World, we returned to Philadelphia, landed in a blizzard, and then and there decided we were moving to South Carolina! What a shock to family, friends and neighbors when my late husband quit his Wall Street job. Yielding to the invite "ya'll come", we moved here in 1974. It was the best decision we ever made. I was hired by Charles Fraser (founder of Sea Pines) as the new Director of Advertising Sales for the Heritage Classic Magazine, and later hired again by Charles Fraser to sell real estate at the Twin Oaks Model (across the street from our new house). I subsequently became the Owner/President of Harbour Realty and Rentals. As a new member of the Hilton Head Island Board of Realtors, the Multiple Listing Service, President of Seaview Properties, Broker in Charge of Lighthouse Realty at the Intercontinental and Broker in Charge of Wexford Realty I've enjoyed a 44 year real estate career on this beautiful island. My 3 children, Sunny, Hank and Amy grew up here and upon college graduation left the the "big city"; NYC, Washington, DC and Boston respectively. As soon as all had graduated, I sold my company and returned to the Sea Pines Company. The girls eventually returned to rear their families here and Hank is still at the Pentagon. As all my clients, friends and family say, "life really is better here", so y'all come!! Call me. You will love it here, too. I will help you! Should you desire to joining our vast group of local volunteers, call me or stop into the Hilton Head Hospital on Thursday afternoons...you can find me at the front desk! Or, you can find me in my office at the Sea Pines Welcome Center, or at the Sea Pines Beach Club office.
