Please remember it is still Lights out for the Sea Turtles on Hilton Head Island.   The Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) is the state reptile of South Carolina and the most common sea turtle nester along our shores. They are easily recognizable by the large size of their head in relation to their body and their brownish or yellow skin. Adults have top shells that measure from 30-42 inches in length and usually weigh up to 400 pounds. Males are larger than females, and are not known to come ashore once they leave their beach of birth. In addition to the amazing beaches, the extensive biking paths, the wonderful restaurants and the incredible homes on Hilton Head Island we also have sensational fishing opportunities. Having been in the area since 1973 I have been blessed to have spent many days fishing in these waters. While I have had many successful days fishing I would highly recommend hiring one of our areas charter boat captains for you and your family when visiting Hilton Head Island.

Recently I had the opportunity to talk to 2nd generation boat Captain Christiaan Pollitzer of Bulldog Charters. Captain Christiaan Pollitzer shared this report with me.

"We are catching Spanish Mackeral in great numbers. The Cobia bite is starting to pick up on the offshore reefs.  We have…

Wading into Flood Waters:

These proposed changes will result in lower base flood elevation requirements and zone changes, which should create a positive impact on the cost of flood insurance. The timing for implementation is still a bit unclear . by the best…
