Oysters

What we used to know as the Carmines Seafood Festival eleven years ago and held on one day at the Hudson’s Seafood Restaurant, has now become the Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival and is a week long event! It was started to fund the David M. Carmines Memorial Foundation, which now helps raise money for other non-profit organizations around Hilton Head Island.

This year’s event will be held February 19-25 and includes events such as a Low country Seafood Experience on the Water, A day afield: An afternoon with fun or rod, followed by and evening with chef, famer and family, Celebrity Chef Demonstration with Ryan Prewitt of Péche, New Orleans, LA, Celebrity Chef Demonstration with Chef Martin Rios, Restaurant Marin, Santa Fe, AZ, Pitmaster 101, James Beard Foundation’s Celebrity Chef Tour, Sip and Shop, Culinary Master Class with Chef Lee Lucier and Executive Chef Scott Bodkin, Pig Pickin’ & Oyster Roast, and my personal favorite, the all-day event on Saturday, February 24th from 11am to 5pm at Honey Horn Plantation. I love to get my annual t-shirt with a new fun design on it and the words “keep the faith”, the words David lived by. The events close out with what is already a sold-out event (don’t worry, I don’t have tickets either), the Seafood, Champagne & Gullah Sunday Brunch. Whether you attend one or all events, this is our Hilton Head at its usual glory of raising funds for charity, while we all have a great time. Hope to see you there!
