"Welcome 2018 RBC Heritage Classic Volunteer". This title brings wonderful emotions and great memories from golf tournaments past. My earlier days of volunteering were as a young girl in the 1970s. I was a Standard Bearer and proudly carried the score sign for many notable golfers of that era. I enjoyed it so much, that I continued as a standard bearer while I was a student for four years at The University of South Carolina. I was paid $15 a day for my 'job' back then. Don't tell them, but I would have done it for free. We young volunteers would ride our bikes to the course first thing in the morning and stay all day. We would gather at the finish of 18th to gather autographs and collect golf balls given to us by the pros. Fast forward many years and once again, I gladly volunteer for this amazing community event!!! I am a Hospitality Ambassador. I stand by one of the many private sponsor galleries and check credentials, greet the guests and offer information for other spectators. Although my friends walk around and enjoy the tournament and I miss being with them, participating as a volunteer on this community venue is a big part of my past, present and hopefully future. Here's to 50 years of the tournament, of which my family missed only the first two. There are many volunteer spots available might already be filled for this year, but there is always next year. Check it out;
