Mariners Cove | Before & After

Posted by Billy King on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 at 9:46am.

In our experience, every renovation project seems to have one particular inspirational element, or jumping off point. And then everything else rather seamlessly falls into place. What do you do when that element is the metal stair rail? Usually it's the flooring/ paint combo, or various trim details or a pair of navy chairs - all of which this place now has, they just came second.

The Mariners Cove project means a lot to all of us at Seagrass. We've all lived in it, it's seen the good the bad and the ugly and the before pictures will knock your socks off. The "befores" are usually the funnest part, so have at it...

The Spanish tile was the first to go, followed by the kitchen, the carpet, the bathrooms and almost all the furniture. Yes, the old railing and stair runner came out, but nobody knew at the time that the replacement would set the tone for the rest of the renovation. It was a splurge but we are thrilled with what followed, and ultimately the final outcome!

Most of the renovations we do are on a crawl space so we rarely use engineered flooring. However, due to the fact that this place was built just above sea level and is on a slab, we found a new engineered flooring and don't feel like we gave up a thing. In fact, we are so pleased with it, we will likely use it on our next project, which is 14 feet up. We went with a dark gray kitchen cabinet and honed Carrara to off set the flooring, did simple renovations to the bathrooms, some ceiling and wall trim detail and staged it to be comfortable but carefully, to not take away from the most important part... THE VIEW!

Here is the backyard. #nofilter :)

Mariners Cove is located on the North End of the Island. It offers a marina with boat slips, a kayak dock, pool and tennis. It's convenient to Hilton Head and Bluffton and every morning that the sun over the deep water view wakes you up, watching the boats pass by in the afternoon and catching the epic sunsets each evening, make you feel like you're living on vacation. Give us a call if you're interested, this beautiful spot is for sale!
