Kathy is a native of Green Bay, WI and a proud Green Bay Packer fan. Kathy had a successful career in telecommunications sales for 10 years after graduating from Marquette University with a marketing degree. In more recent years, Kathy and her husband Jim bought and sold numerous successful businesses including a home inspection franchise called HouseMaster, “The Home Inspection Professionals”. During this time, Kathy became more interested in real estate as an investor in numerous properties from duplexes to high-rise condos in multiple markets. Kathy and Jim also built numerous homes and recently completed renovating their own beach house in Sea Pines, which they just love. 
 
Kathy is also a proud parent of 3 children, Andrew, Ellie and Lindsay. Lindsay is a senior at Hilton Head Prep and Ellie graduated from Prep last year and now attends Villanova University. Andrew from Santa Clara University and is now working for Salesforce in San Francisco.

Join us for the 34th year of the Hilton Head Wine and Food Festival during the week of March 11th - 17th, 2019. The week will consist of wine tastings/educational events as well as wine dinners throughout the island. The Sip and Stroll will be on Thursday, March 14th, the Grand Tasting will be Friday night, March 15th and the Public Tasting will be Saturday, March 16th, all located in and around the iconic Harbour Town in Sea Pines Resort.

Hilton Head Island has repeatedly been named the best island destination in the world, earning praise for its world-class resorts, amenities and services.  Now, students at the University of South Carolina Beaufort can learn the art of hospitality from the best, right here on the island.

In November, the USCB unveiled its new Hospitality Management Campus near the Sea Pines Circle. The 40,000 square foot facility, which cost $24.5 million to construct resembles more of a conference center rather than a school based on it’s tabby columns and soaring atrium with exposed wood.

Yes, Hilton Head Island has alligators and yes, they can be dangerous.  Actually, there are alligators in the entire Beaufort County region - and scattered throughout most of the rest of South Carolina. This is a hot topic for tourists and residents alike on Hilton Head Island. The recent tragic loss of life due to an alligator attack has only heightened people’s fears so it’s best to understand the behaviors and risks upfront.

The next question is do they go in the ocean? The short answer is that they frequent lagoons, and brackish fresh water. Beaufort County is making a cultural shift by banning plastic bags. The ordinance goes into effect on November 1st, 2018.  Reusable bags are a great way to preserve the region’s natural resources and the health and safety of the waterways and marine wildlife.

As of November 1st, 2018, businesses may no longer provide single-use disposable plastic carryout shopping bags to customers.  To accommodate the new ordinance, businesses are encouraged to provide reusable bags or recyclable paper bags for their customers. Some businesses have already made these changes and are providing reusable bags as either a courtesy or for sale at a minimal charge.
