The spec home market is beginning to flourish again on Hilton Head Island

The spec home market is beginning to flourish again on Hilton Head Island with new construction going up everywhere. One of the big appeals of this market is buyers can purchase a brand new home without the hassle and expense of finding a lot, designing the house with an architect and getting the approval from the Town and the ARB. With fewer homesites available spec homes will be in strong demand especially with non resident buyers who want new but don't have the time to build from scratch. Prices for these homes range from $700,000 to over $2,000,000 near the beaches. Please call me for all the exciting details!!  843-384-6789

Having food allergies can be a challenge in everyday life but vacationing with food allergies can be downright frustrating. I understand these challenges more than anyone. I tell people I'm allergic to food, which is an exaggeration. However, I am allergic to a lot of foods including eggs, olives (olive oils), apples, dairy and gluten.

The good news is if you suffer from food allergies like me, Hilton Head Island has many allergy friendly dining options to accommodate. Let me share a few of my favorites:

1.  Delishee Yo - 32 Palmetto Bay Road

They offer green juices, organic salads and sandwiches (they use rice paper to make my favorite wrap gluten free)  My favorite is their homemade hummus. P.S. Take notice of the garden as you enter.

Making Sense of Home Renovations

One of the lingering questions in the minds of many home owners involve interior and exterior renovations.  “When is the best time to invest in renovations?”  “How can I maximize the return on my investment?”  “What projects will retain their value over time?” It’s understandable – investing money in your home can be pricey (and stressful) and some projects have a greater return than others.

Fortunately, Remodeling magazine’s annual Cost vs. Value report – which analyzes what you will pay for upgrades - is now available online.  Craig Webb, editor of Remodeling magazine, noted that the value of high-priced projects rose significantly over last year.  He correlates that with the fact the housing market is

Oysters have played a crucial role in the history of South Carolina. With an abundance of river banks, creeks and salt marshes the state’s coast enjoys a bounty of Crassostrea Virginica, or the Eastern Oyster. Bluffton, South Carolina, on the May River, is blessed with vast tidal areas and natural oyster reefs and is a perfect habitat for producing the meaty much sought after briny oysters. In addition to the importance of oysters as a much desired food, discarded shells baked to extract lime then mixed with sand, broken shells and water provided a sturdy building material for early settlers to build houses, forts, churches and other structures called tabby construction…

The true unsung heroes to cleaning up the gigantic mess left over from Hurricane Matthew goes out to the Sea Pines grounds maintenance team. We owe a great deal of thanks and applause to their tireless efforts over the last several months to cleaning up and restoring the roads, bike paths and common grounds throughout our community. The same professionalism and dedication they bring to the job everyday has now been nationally recognized by the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS).  The prestigious 2016 Green Star Honor Award presented by PGMS in the "Public Works Site" category has been awarded to the Sea Pines Community Services Associates on behalf of the grounds…
